The draws for the knockout rounds of the 2012/13 UEFA club competitions will take place on Thursday 20 December at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.

The pairings for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 will be decided during a ceremony starting at 11.30CET, with the UEFA Europa League round of 32 and round of 16 draws following from 14.00CET. The draws will be conducted by UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino and UEFA director of competitions Giorgio Marchetti, assisted by finals ambassadors Steve McManaman (UEFA Champions League, London) and Patrick Kluivert (UEFA Europa League, Amsterdam).

The UEFA Champions League draw will see the winners from one group facing the runners-up from another group, with the runners-up playing the first leg at home. The winners and runners-up of the same group cannot be drawn against each other. Clubs from the same association also cannot be drawn together.

The UEFA Europa League round of 32 draw will see the 12 group winners and the four best third-ranked teams in the UEFA Champions League group stage, being drawn against the 12 UEFA Europa League runners-up and the remaining four third-ranked sides from the UEFA Champions League group stage. Winners and runners-up from the same group cannot be pitted against each other. Group winners and the four best third-ranked teams in the UEFA Champions League will play the return leg at home. Again, clubs from the same association cannot meet.

There will then follow a draw for the round of 16, with the qualified sides from the round of 32 indicated as winners of matches one to 16. The first team drawn will play the first leg at home.

Media representatives wishing to attend the draws must apply for accreditation by emailing fame_accreditations@uefa.ch before midday CET on Wednesday 19 December, with 'Club draws' in the subject header. Due to the number of club representatives expected for the draws, only six photographers will be allowed to attend the proceedings in the auditorium. A live feed from the draw hall will be available in the media working area, which is also equipped with Wi-Fi connection.

Both draws will be transmitted live on UEFA.com and on Eurosport.
