UEFA announced today the award of the 2012-15 UEFA Champions League media rights in the USA and Caribbean to FOX Sports Media Group. The media rights also include the UEFA Super Cup 2012, 2013 and 2014.
FOX Sports Media Group prevailed in a competitive tender process. A key element of FOX's offer was its commitment to further extending its already broad coverage of the UEFA Champions League and its dedication to further enhancing the competition's position as the world's premier club football competition.
In the United States, every match will be shown live, both within the FOX Sports family of channels and sub-licences. The coverage on FOX Soccer Channel, FOX Soccer Plus, FOX Deportes and FOX Sports Net will ensure unparalleled reach throughout the region. In addition, two semi-final matches will be shown on FX and the final is planned to be scheduled on FOX Broadcasting. This channel lineup means there will be comprehensive coverage in both English and Spanish.
In the Caribbean, FOX Soccer Channel and FOX Soccer Plus will provide extensive coverage of the competition which will be complemented by a sub-licence in the region.
Furthermore considerable programming blocks will be dedicated to the UEFA Champions League – with live games, highlights and delayed matches in peak slots presented in an exclusive UEFA Champions League environment utilising FOX's high-quality production standards. It will also be possible to follow every single UEFA Champions League game over the internet, via www.FOXsoccer.com, www.FOXsoccer.tv, www.FOXdeportes.com and www.FOXsports.com, and over mobile networks via the FOX Soccer iPhone app.
Commenting on the renewal, Guy-Laurent Epstein, marketing director of UEFA Events SA, said: "In the current 2009-12 rights cycle, FOX Sports have shown a strong commitment to prioritise the UEFA Champions League in their scheduling including the broadcast of the final on FOX Broadcasting. UEFA is delighted to further extend this successful partnership through 2015 guaranteeing that football fans in the region will benefit from unrivalled access to UEFA's flagship competition."
