KS Besa defender Alban Dragusha has been suspended for 24 months by UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body after testing positive for a banned substance.
UEFA Cup match
The positive test followed the Albanian club's UEFA Cup first qualifying round game against FK Bezanija in Belgrade on 19 July. A high concentration of nandrolone metabolites were detected in the 'A' urine sample by the laboratory at Seibersdorf, Austria, accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Nandrolone is an anabolic steroid belonging to the class S1 (anabolic agents). It is a banned substance on the 2007 WADA prohibited list. FIFA has been requested to extend the suspension worldwide. An appeal may be lodged by the player against this decision within three days.
