A specially appointed jury has selected the design of the Bassi & Carella architects' firm for UEFA's new administration building in Nyon, Switzerland. The selection was made from four proposals.
This building, to be constructed on a plot of land opposite the House of European Football in Nyon, will enable UEFA to bring together some of its staff members who are based at different sites. The plans chosen make provision for a 6,000 metre squared building spread over four levels. Circular in shape, the new building meets high ecological and environmental standards. It will accommodate between 150 and 180 members of staff and construction costs are estimated at CHF34m. The next stage will be to launch an invitation to tender in order to find a construction firm. Then, in October, the plans will be submitted for enquiry. Construction will begin in February and should be completed by the end of March 2010.
