570 days before the start of UEFA EURO 2012, the cloud of secrecy surrounding the official mascot was today lifted at a special ceremony at the Polish Theatre in Warsaw. After Trix and Flix in Austria and Switzerland in 2008, Europe's next festival of football will have a new duo to bring it luck. Dressed in red/white and yellow/blue football strips, the dynamic twins wear the national colours of the two host countries, Poland and Ukraine.
Amongst the personalities present to witness the arrival of the mascot twins created by Warner BROS, were the presidents of the host associations Grzegorz Lato and Grigoriy Surkis, David Taylor CEO UEFA Events SA, Polish Sports Minister Adam Giersz, together with UEFA EURO 2012 Ambassadors Oleg Blokhin, Zbigniew Boniek, Andriy Shevchenko and Andrzej Szarmach.
The first appearance of the twin mascots on a football pitch is scheduled for tomorrow Wednesday 17 November, during special ceremonies around the friendly match of Poland against Ivory Coast in Poznan, and around the friendly match Switzerland against Ukraine in Geneva.
The twin mascots will also embark on a tour of the two host countries in order to meet the public and interact with the population and the children through various programmes of activities planned in each of the eight host cities. Complete details of the road show, with the first event to be held today in Warsaw, are available on UEFA.com.
