Referees appointed for 2017 UEFA club competition finals

017 - Full refereeing teams announced for three finals taking place in Cardiff and Stockholm

2017 UEFA Champions League final

The UEFA Referees Committee has today announced that Felix Brych will referee the 2017 UEFA Champions League final between Juventus Football Club and Real Madrid CF, to be played at the National Stadium of Wales in Cardiff on Saturday 3 June at 20:45CET (19:45 local).

The 41 year-old Brych, who is from Germany, has been an international referee since 2007. This season, he has taken charge of five UEFA Champions League matches, including the round of 16 first leg game between FC Porto and Juventus Football Club in Portugal. He also officiated one UEFA Europa League match.

At the final in Cardiff, Brych will be assisted by his countrymen Mark Borsch and Stefan Lupp. The fourth official will be Milorad Mažić from Serbia, and the two additional assistant referees, Bastian Dankert and Marco Fritz, are also from Germany. A German reserve assistant referee – Rafael Foltyn – completes the refereeing team.

2017 UEFA Europa League final

The UEFA Referees Committee also announced that Damir Skomina will referee the 2017 UEFA Europa League final between AFC Ajax and Manchester United FC, to be played at the Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on Wednesday 24 May at 20:45CET.

Skomina, who is from Slovenia, has been an international referee since 2003. This season, the 40 year-old has officiated six UEFA Champions League matches, including the quarter-final second leg between AS Monaco FC and Borussia Dortmund in Monaco.

He will be assisted by compatriots Jure Praprotnik and Robert Vukan at the final in Stockholm. The fourth official, Gianluca Rocchi, is from Italy, and the two additional assistant referees, Matej Jug and Slavko Vinčić are both from Slovenia. A Slovenian reserve assistant referee – Tomaž Klančnik – completes the refereeing team.

2017 UEFA Women’s Champions League final

Bibiana Steinhaus was selected to referee the 2017 UEFA Women's Champions League final between Olympique Lyonnais and Paris Saint-Germain, to be played at Cardiff City Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on Thursday 1 June at 20:45CET (19:45 local).

Steinhaus, who is from Germany, has been an international referee since 2005. During her career, the 38 year-old referee has officiated the final of 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany, as well as the final of Women's Olympic Football Tournament 2012 in London. Last year, she took charge of the UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final second leg between Olympique Lyonnais and Paris Saint-Germain in Lyon.

In Cardiff, she will be assisted by compatriots Katrin Rafalski and Christina Biehl. The fourth official, Riem Hussein, is also from Germany. A English reserve official – Sian Massey – completes the line-up of the refereeing team.
