Theodore Theodoridis appointed UEFA General Secretary ad interim

UEFA's Executive Committee today appointed Theodore Theodoridis as UEFA General Secretary ad interim and decided that goal-line technology will be used at this year's club competition finals.

For the first time since Gianni Infantino’s election as FIFA President, UEFA’s Executive Committee has gathered in Nyon. Among the decisions explained in the video review of the meeting at UEFA headquarters, is the announcement of an ad interim general secretary.

UEFA's Executive Committee today appointed Theodore Theodoridis as UEFA General Secretary ad interim, replacing Gianni Infantino who was elected FIFA President on 26 February.

Theodore Theodoridis, a 50-year-old Greek citizen, has been working at UEFA since January 2008, first as director of the national associations division and then as deputy general secretary since October 2010.

At its meeting on Friday, the UEFA Executive Committee also approved the agenda of the 40th UEFA Ordinary Congress, which will take place in Budapest on 3 May. This agenda will include the application of the Football Federation of Kosovo for UEFA membership, as well as the election of a female representative on the UEFA Executive Committee. The deadline for candidature for this position has been set for 19 April.

The UEFA Executive Committee reconfirmed its decision of January that no UEFA Presidential elections will be scheduled until a decision has been made by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Michel Platini's appeal.

Regarding goal-line technology, which will be introduced in the UEFA Champions League as from next season, it was decided that this will already be used at this year's UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League finals, in Milan and Basel respectively.

Finally, the following competition regulations for the 2016/17 season were approved:

• UEFA Super Cup

• UEFA Women's Champions League

• UEFA Futsal Cup

• UEFA Youth League

The next meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee will be held in Budapest on 2 May.
