MIP gives elite players career tools

Elite players are studying to develop the tools to gain senior roles in football at the start of the UEFA Executive Master for International Players (UEFA MIP).

UEFA MIP to enrich football management

The UEFA Executive Master for International Players (UEFA MIP) is under way, equipping players with the tools for a future career in the administrative management of football.

As well as educating elite players by working with two world-class academic institutions – the Centre de Droit d'Economie du Sport (CDES) University of Limoges (France) and the Birkbeck Sport Business Centre, Birkbeck, University of London – UEFA is hoping that the future of football will be enriched by utilising their on-field experience in leadership roles off the pitch.

Participants: Eric Abidal, Enrique Boned Guillot, Keld Bordinggaard, Balima Boureima, Bruno Cheyrou, Nikos Dabizas, Nuno Gomes, Romann Dan, Pierre Issa, Juninho Pernambucano, Christian Karembeu, Sebastian Kehl, Jessica Landström, Mbo Mpenza, Patrick Müller, Geremi Njitap, Viola Odebrecht, Oliveira Rai, Bianca Rech, Jason Roberts, Simon Rolfes, Roberto Rosetti, Hannu Tihinen, Māris Verpakovskis.

Eric Abidal, UEFA Champions League winner 2009, 2011
"My objectives are to get as much out of it as possible in order to learn more about the world of football and management. Football has developed a lot and will keep on developing. Being guided by professionals at UEFA and all the people participating will give me the opportunity to learn the basics, which will be very important for the future. It is similar to how you plan your career path as a player but even more important because this concerns a future that will last longer than our playing careers."

Viola Odebrecht, former German women's international
"I think football players know more about the sport, which is normal because they have been involved in it for a number of years. We know what the media want from the players, we know how the fans behave and we understand the sport and the environment around it very well. I wanted to go back to my university studies and this course is perfect for me."
