Turkey turn to fresh faces

Turkey coach Fatih Terim has included a number of rising stars in his squad to take on Group C counterparts Bosnia-Herzegovina as well as Brazil next month.

Turkey coach Fatih Terim has dropped Fenerbahçe SK goalkeeper Volkan Demirel and included a number of rising stars in his squad to play Bosnia-Herzegovina and Brazil next month.

New faces
Turkey, leading UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying Group C, face Bosnia-Herzegovina in Sarajevo on 2 June before a friendly against Brazil in Dortmund, Germany three days later. Under-21 internationals Serdar Kurtuluş, Colin Kazım-Richards and Umut Bulut are selected for the first time while goalkeeper Serdar Kulbilge and defender Uğur Kavuk also receive maiden call-ups.

Old guard
In addition, Terim recalls Turkey's most-capped player, 34-year-old keeper Rüştü Reçber, who will hope to make his 114th international appearance after six months out with a knee injury suffered against Italy. The Brazil game also represents the swansong of Blackburn Rovers FC midfielder Tugay Kerimoğlu, 36, who bows out after a career with Turkey spanning 17 years and 93 caps and will join up with the squad after the Bosnia-Herzegovina game.
