Caring about the European football family is an essential mission for UEFA. A focal point of the campaign to nurture a true family spirit sees UEFA and its 53 member national associations working together to help the family develop, improve and deal with key issues in an efficient manner – thanks to the Knowledge & Information Sharing Scenario (KISS) platform.

Sharing expertise
This comprehensive programme, which is based on networking and mutual sharing of expertise and know-how between UEFA and the national associations, is taking further strides forward. The KISS platform launched by UEFA is now moving into a new phase, and aims to enhance professionalism within the national associations by addressing critical tasks and problems faced by football managers in Europe.

Meeting challenges
From marketing matters to media and communication concerns, refereeing to stadiums and security, legal issues to the running of events; the KISS platform is helping Europe's national associations evolve and meet the challenges presented by modern-day football. From Iceland to Kazakhstan, Portugal to Russia – Europe is a vast continent of different cultures, ideas and knowledge – as the parent body of European football, UEFA is committed to bringing these various strands together, to help develop best practices in football management, and foster a collective intelligence that will benefit European football as a whole.

Three main pillars
The KISS programme is based on three main pillars
• developing networking between Europe's national associations
• creating and sharing good practices in football management
• providing individual assistance to national associations to fulfil specific needs

The areas targeted are football operations (media, stadiums/security, marketing, event management); football governance (association planning and development, legal matters, club licensing, etc); and football development (infrastructure, refereeing, anti-doping, etc).

New practices
Various ways of networking and sharing knowledge and know-how are being deployed within the KISS scheme. UEFA holds workshops which bring together national association specialists to address specific topics and to trade ideas. The information gleaned, lessons learned and know-how acquired through exchanging knowledge at such gatherings then serves to implement new, improved practices across Europe.

Online platform
Naturally, the KISS programme also makes good use of modern technology. The KISS online platform is an invaluable tool for storing, collecting and disseminating the information and know-how which helps to make the programme function effectively. In addition to news of upcoming workshops and events, the online platform reinforces the professional skills and knowledge of associations' staff through interactive presentations, videos, story-telling and exercises involving topics and issues across the wide palette of European football and its administration.

Module solution
KISS has one very special feature. There is never one unique solution to a problem. Therefore, KISS has implemented a module whereby users can find a variety of ways to tackle problems which are similar, such as different video clips showing various manners of involving sponsors in associations' work processes, such as ticketing.

European nature
The KISS programme responds positively to the many different contexts and cultures throughout Europe. In parallel with knowledge-sharing, KISS deals with specific needs from national associations, and assists the associations in solving specific issues of their own. The scheme includes hundreds of small modules that teachers or coaches can reorganise in whichever way they want to design local courses throughout Europe. Project management assistance is also given within the KISS programme to working groups, or communities, involving associations who are confronting similar projects. And, in accordance with the true European nature of the programme, KISS documentation and material is being translated into a variety of languages.

E-learning
KISS is in the process of developing an e-learning module for individuals to develop a curriculum in football management, which leads to a diploma for successful candidates. UEFA and Europe's national associations are working in tandem through the KISS platform – with the well-being of European football in mind.
