PFSC agrees on Olympic position

The Professional Football Strategy Council (PFSC) has unanimously agreed that European participation in future Olympic men's football tournaments should become restricted to players aged under 21.

The Professional Football Strategy Council (PFSC), the body composed of four elected representatives each of the associations (UEFA Executive Committee), the leagues (EPFL), the clubs (ECA) and the players (FIFPro Division Europe) met today in Nyon, Switzerland, and unanimously agreed that European participation in future men's Olympic Football Tournaments should be restricted to players who are under 21 years of age.

Full discussion
After a full discussion on the subject, the PFSC unanimously agreed that the principle of participation at the men's Olympic Football Tournament should be for under-21 players, and not for players up to the age of 23, and that there should be no provision for any overage players (currently each team has the right to select three players over the age of 23).

Financial Fair Play
In addition, the PFSC received an update on Financial Fair Play and the protection of minors, and also discussed players' agents in European professional football and the European social dialogue.
