UEFA is giving the opportunity to 103 students from Ukraine to work in host broadcasting at the UEFA EURO 2012 final round in Poland and Ukraine next summer – under the UEFA EURO 2012 HB Talent Programme.
Interviews took place with 189 candidates over a four-day period last week in the four EURO host cities in Ukraine – Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kyiv and Lviv – to choose the students who will work at the finals in the three host broadcasting domains of TV & Video Production, HB Logistics and Broadcaster Servicing. Last month, 125 Polish students had been selected after interviews in the Polish host cities of Gdansk, Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw.
UEFA has established the programme as a means of giving talented students work experience during the tournament in positions related to their academic studies in the fields of media, journalism and sport management.
The following Ukrainian universities have been picked to work together with UEFA on the project:
• Kharkiv National University of Economics (Харківський національний економічний університет)
• National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (Національний університет «Києво-Могилянська академія)
• Lviv State University of Physical Culture (Львівський державний університет фізичної культури)
• Donetsk National University (Донецький національний університет)
The universities created excellent professional conditions and were exceptional in supporting UEFA in delivering the scheme's recruitment phase to the required standard.
The team of six UEFA interviewers were impressed with the quality, motivation and language skills of the students interviewed, with all interviewers commenting on how refreshing it was to see highly motivated and passionate students eager to be part of this historic event for their country.
Candidates from Ukraine found out this week if they were successful. Those who were unsuccessful will receive access to UEFA's project management elearning portal aimed at developing their project management skills in their academic studies and projects, as well as future jobs.
The programme officially opens today for all successful students from Poland and Ukraine. The UEFA EURO 2012 tournament will run from 8 June to 1 July 2012.
