UEFA announce EURO broadcasting rights deal

UEFA has announced an exclusive agreement with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) for the UEFA EURO 2016 broadcasting rights, covering 26 European territories.

UEFA today announced an exclusive agreement with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) for the UEFA EURO 2016 broadcasting rights.

The deal covers 26 European territories*/** and per country ensures free-to-air coverage of a minimum of 23 live matches, as well as dedicated magazine-style shows and highlights programmes. In line with UEFA's platform neutral approach, football fans will also be able to enjoy UEFA EURO 2016 via the internet portals and mobile platforms of these official broadcasters as well as via the relevant EBU members' radio stations.

In addition to the TV deal, an agreement was reached beyond the 26 countries for the radio rights of the event, enabling EBU radio members to offer extensive coverage of UEFA EURO 2016 to European listeners.

This deal will provide valuable free-to-air coverage of the tournament across Europe. Having the EBU members on board will help to promote UEFA EURO 2016 in the relevant territories and is highly positive for the development and exposure of European national team football."

The agreement was negotiated by CAA Eleven, the marketing agency appointed by UEFA to exclusively commercialise the media and commercial rights for European national team football, including UEFA EURO 2016, the European qualifying matches for UEFA EURO 2016, the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the UEFA European Under-21 Championship and other national team competitions.
