Boniek looking forward to Europa League final

Former Juventus midfielder Zbigniew Boniek, now the Polish Football Federation president, discusses preparations for the UEFA Europa League final in Warsaw.

Boniek on Poland’s ‘football party’

Three years on from co-hosting UEFA EURO 2012, football in Poland is set to receive another boost with the staging of the UEFA Europa League final in Warsaw on 27 May. Polish Football Federation (PZPN) president Zbigniew Boniek discusses the legacy that the match can leave for football in the country.

On preparations for the final ...
We are ready. We've been thinking about this project for a long time and we've done everything well in advance. The only uncertainty remains over which teams will take part and who we will host in Warsaw. The stadium is ready and the pitch will be wonderful. Whoever comes to Warsaw will have a great time, see a beautiful city and stadium and, fingers crossed, it will be a wonderful match too.

On the impact of the UEFA Europa League trophy being handed over to the city of Warsaw ...
The Polish people are asking many questions about where to buy tickets. There's a high level of interest in this game. I'm convinced that people are hungry for top-level football in Poland. They're hungry to see top teams play, which is why I'm convinced it will be a memorable, well-organised final that we are working on together with UEFA. After the final, I'm sure we'll be able to say we've had a huge football party.
