How the women's association club coefficients are calculated

The UEFA women's association coefficients are based on the results of each association's clubs in the UEFA Women's Champions League over a five-year period.

The season coefficient of an association is calculated by adding up the points obtained by all its clubs in a given season, then dividing the total by the number of clubs from that association that took part in the competition.

An association’s five-season association coefficient is the cumulative total of that associations’ season coefficients for the five specified seasons. They are then used to determine the position of an association in the competition access list: e.g. the associations' positions in the 2021/22 UEFA Women's Champions League access list (and therefore club allocations to the competition) are determined on the basis of the five-season association coefficients established at the end of the 2019/20 season, i.e. the cumulative total of the associations' season coefficients from seasons 2015/16 to 2019/20 inclusive.

Points awarded each season are in accordance with the relevant competition regulations for that specific season, so the following details apply only to the awarding of points from the 2021/22 season:

Points are awarded as follows:
0.5 – awarded to each club eliminated in the preliminary round (if there is one)
1 – awarded to the defeated club of the round 1 third-place match
1.5 – awarded to the winner of the round 1 third-place match (four-team mini-tournament) or defeated team in the matchday 1 tie (three-team mini-tournament)
2 – awarded to the round 1 defeated finalist
3 – awarded to each club eliminated in round 2
2 – all wins from group stage onwards
1 – all draws from group stage onwards
4 – group stage bonus participation
1 – each round clubs reach from the quarter-finals

These rankings will be updated after each round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

N.B. Match points are awarded only for matches which have actually been played, in accordance with the final scores ratified by UEFA. Penalty shoot-outs do not count. Coefficients are calculated to the thousandth and not rounded up.

For matches originally foreseen to be two legs (home and away) but reduced to a single leg, the calculation of coefficient points per match will be adapted as follows:
3 points for a win (in regular time or extra time)
2 points to each team for a draw (after extra time)
1 point for a loss (in regular time or extra time)

Bonus points

Clubs which reach the quarter-finals, semi-finals or final are awarded an extra point for each such round. In addition, four points are awarded for participation in the group stage.

Equal coefficients

● their coefficients in the most recent of the seasons on which the rankings are based
● their coefficients in in the next most recent season in which they are not equal
● drawing of lots
